Web 2.0?

Do people really know what web 2.0 is?
This is rather a curiosity on my part rather than an attempt at a serious debate.
I’ll be interested to know if anyone’s initial perception changes after looking into it.
The best point of reference is probably this article by O’Reiley
http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/oreilly/tim/news/2005/09/30/what-is-web-20.html
It is actually quite an interesting article even if you are not that into technology.

Cool. That's actually one of my favorite topics.
I've actually blogged about this before here, and echoing what I blogged, I think that the main feature of Web 2.0 is that it's people based.

Web 2.0 is a place where people realize that network effects should come from communities and user contributions- keyword being “participation”. It is oriented toward interaction and social networks rather than a traditional website. Thus, due to participation and interaction, an essential part of Web 2.0 is connecting intelligence, turning the web into a kind of giant global brain.
